Japanese Caves in Latte Stone Park
The two sets of caves in this cliff line are part of an
extensive cave system used by the Japanese. They are an example
of the tunneling created by the Japanese throughout the Pacific
islands in the 1940s. They were built by Chamorro, Okinawan, and
Korean forced labor using primitive tools working under extreme
conditions. These caves were probably used for storage and air
raid shelters and are interconnected and extensive.
The caves are on the Guam and National Registers of
Historic Places.
